Steel Building Costs
A steel building costs much lesser than conventional buildings but a wrong choice can result in expenditure of a large amount without the worth provided. It is very vital to know the total cost and estimate of the whole venture before buying a steel building. One of the foremost things to be kept in mind is the selection of the type of steel building that one wants to build. The whole cost structure depends on the design and architecture of the building. An individual should decide what type of a steel building is required by him, whether it is a hangar for aircrafts or an outhouse, a home or a steel building for some business. Once the type of building is determined, next step is to choose the the steel building builder or a contractor. This also has to be done with utmost diligence. As the type of steel building is decided according to the needs of the investor or a buyer similarly the builder needs to be chosen corresponding to the resources of the buyer without compromising on the quality or the design. A steel building will be a one time investment so it is mandatory for anyone who is investing to make it their best investment in order to draw profits from it and make it as permanent as it is possible. Haste will definitely make waste if the investment is made injudiciously. A proper lay out of the total estimate should be made so as to be prepared beforehand for all the expenditure that will be required.
Steel Building Cost - Areas of Expenditure:
1. Material: When buying or investing in a metal building it is necessary to have full knowledge of where your money will be spent and will its worth get delivered? The very first step involves buying the right material that is the best quality of steel available. One should never invest in a cheap but low quality material as the whole foundation and the skeleton of the building will be deformed if wrong material is used for construction. Therefore even if high quality metal is a little over one’s budget then also it should be bought as it will save the cost of maintenance required later.
2. Design and Architecture: Next is the expenditure on designing and architecture. The design of the metal building will determine the amount of material to be used and also the quantity of the material to be used. The design of the metal building determines the number of sections which are to be prepared.
3. Land and Land Preparation: If an individual does not own a land where the metal or steel building is to be erected then the buyer has to buy the land and prepare it to make it a construction site.
4. Labor and Transportation: Cost spent on labor will be lower than what is spent on construction of conventional buildings as the labor required gets reduced by 30 to 50 %. The cost is lowered because a steel building is generally a prefabricated or pre-engineered building which is built in sections and compartments that are transported to the construction site once they are completed. Although labor expenditure gets reduced by a large proportion, the cost of transportation gets increased. The completed sections are brought to the construction sites and are assembled there.
5. Assembling and Erection: When all the sections of the steel building are completed they are brought to the construction site and assembled there in order to form the whole structure. This procedure is another area of expenditure in owning steel building.
6. Insulation: Insulation of the building is also necessary in order to meet the demands of the weather and climate.
7. Installation of Electricity and Plumbing Services: The installation of these services will require money depending upon the enormity of the structure and the number of sections that require the use of these services. Although these are necessary expenditures yet they are lower than the ones that are spent in conventional buildings.
8. Maintenance: Steel being a highly resistant metal alloy is considerably less prone to corrosion, rusting and deterioration as compared to other construction material. Thus the amount spent on weatherproofing and chemical proofing can be saved and only a minimum amount is spent on the maintenance.
9. Miscellaneous: Miscellaneous expenditure involves high property taxes, permits, interior finishing and doors ( if they are to be included in the designs ).
