Hyundai Steel, the second largest steel maker in South Korea tapping the nerve of steelmakers, has decided upon building greener steel mills for the sake of environment and for combating the rising energy costs. This marks another achievement in the realm of prefabricated steel buildings.
Hyundai Steel plans to get a tightly closed raw material processing system and by doing so, it looks forward to not only reducing the industrial noise, but also scattering of industrial waste like fugitive dust etc. The World’s first closed raw material processing system as it is touted to be, will help reduce the green house emissions and also the losses that are incurred owing to open-air yards storage due to wind and rain.
The South Korean steelmaker spent some 400 billion won(US $ 321 million) for making the green steel mill, a reality. The closed raw material processing system would do all its procedures like unloading, conveying and storing the raw materials under air-tight conditions which would reduce pollution and make the steel-making process more efficient.
A revolutionary endeavor, the green steel mill is a commendable effort by Hyundai Steel and has set an example for others steel producers. Hope this turns out to be a catalyst for the emerging popularity of steel building structures around the world.
