Steel Building Frame Types

Steel buildings have evolved out to be every household’s utility. It is an era where steel, with every passing year is gaining popularity. Indigenous building materials are considered ancient notions now. An investment in steel building property is an inevitable choice. But, like other significant considerations, a steel building frame type is also equally an essential forethought.

Distinct Steel Frames
A steel frame is a building component with a skeleton frame of vertical steel columns and horizontal I-beams, assembled in a rectangular grid which eventually supports floors, roofs and walls attached to the frame. Steel frames in buildings act as support system and provide stability to the building. Owing to steel’s innumerable properties, inclusion of steel frames in establishments would result in strong, sturdy and resistant buildings.

As a result of steel’s lightness, beams used to create the frame stays in place, thus preventing the frames from bowing in adverse climatic conditions. This leads to longevity and durability of a building. Steel building frames gather credibility and trust of people due to the various benefits that steel is endowed with.

There is a precise segregation in the types of frames available. Some of the chief ones are:

Clearspan Frame: A Clearspan frame offers spectacular durability, versatility and cost-effective advantages. This frame is considered ideal for fabrication in large areas such as factories, warehouses, athletic arenas, agricultural buildings and steel storage buildings. But a Clearspan frame has limits as well. With increasing widths, frame becomes relatively heavier to tolerate greater loads and hence the costs rise. Clearspan frames can be cost-effective for buildings as wide as 150’ feet and even wider in few cases.

Modular Frame: These frames are adopted for interior columns. They distribute the load evenly, reducing the cost of frame and establishment, leading to savings. Large structures are often implanted with modular frames.

Single slope Frame: They are primarily employed in strip shopping centers, offices and mini-storage complexes.

Purchasing steel building frame structures is an important decision for a successful establishment. Steel structures can be bought from brokers, manufacturers or general contractors.
