The Australian International Design Awards 2009 for Queensland were recently announced. These eminent awards were given away in four carefully selected categories that included Architectural Steel Building Design, Structural Engineering Steel Building Design, Engineering Projects Structural Engineering Steel Design – Infrastructure and Mining, and Steel Clad Structures Building Design.
The winners in the respective categories were:
- The Noosa Visitor Information Center by Bark Design Architects for Architectural Steel Building Design Award.
- Queensland Tennis Centre by Sinclair Knight Merz for Structural Engineering Steel Building Design Award
- The Springfield Link Bridge by the Horizon Alliance for Engineering Projects Structural Engineering Steel Design Award
- Fulton Trotter Architects for Steel Clade Structures Building Design Award
The Australian Steel Design Awards are highly prestigious and enjoy esteemed recognition by the Commonwealth Government and the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design, for their prominent role in propagating an environment of architectural innovation and improvement.
The fact that steel building designs are being acknowledged and appreciated at such a scale is testimony to the widespread popularity of steel buildings across the globe. More and more people are waking up to the infinite benefits of steel buildings and also their eco-friendly construction.
Steel buildings, whether prefabricated or pre-engineered are definitely the favored choice among many and the Australian Steel Design Awards corroborate it year after year.
